What We Know

It's already been officially announced for production and now we've got our first spy photos of the 2010 Lincoln MKT. Based on the concept of the same name, this new seven-passenger Lincoln crossover is a sportier, more upscale version of the Ford Flex. The prototypes caught testing in Death Valley wore bodywork that looked much like the concept. Unlike the boxy Flex, the MKT will get more streamlined sheet metal that includes a signature Lincoln grille up front. Large wheels and tires and a low roof line contribute to the MKT's more elegant design. Ford has also confirmed that the MKT will get the company's new turbocharged 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6. Expected to produce around 340 horsepower, the Ecoboost engine promises V8 performance with the fuel mileage of a V6. A six-speed automatic transmission will be standard and all-wheel drive is expected to be an option. Look for the official unveil of the Lincoln MKT early next year, with sales beginning by next fall.

What Edmunds.com says

If you like the practicality of the Ford Flex but aren't into the boxy design, the Lincoln MKT will offer the same utility and a more elegant design next year.
